September brought a busy month for British numismatics, with new Star Trek and Wicked 50p coins from The Royal Mint alongside an exceptional run of specialist auctions featuring English shillings, medieval silver, historic gold and British tokens. We also look overseas at China’s first Coin of the Year win and new releases from the United States and Australia.
What’s New? Numismatic News Roundup – August 2026
August brought one of the most interesting UK circulation developments of the year as the first King Charles III 10p coins entered circulation, including just 600,000 examples dated 2023. We also look at The London Mint Office entering administration, the UK coin-fair calendar and major international developments including the return of America’s legendary 1804 Dollar design in gold.

Around the world, the U.S. Mint expanded bulk access to 2026 circulating coins, tariff concerns eased for collectables, Australia released Commonwealth Games $2 coins into change, and a Catherine the Great 10-rouble coin achieved a strong auction result.
