Great Britain & Egypt. Lord Abercromby AR Medallion. 1801. ABERCROMBIOUS DUX IN EGYPTO CECIDIT VICTOR 28 MAR 1801 around bust of Lord Abercromby to right / NA FIR A CHOISIN BUAIDH SAN EPHAIT, two warriors doing battle centre, date below. Eimer 932. 45.07g, 49.00mm, 12h.
NGC Graded MS 63 (8464731-001) Choice Uncirculated. Proof like fully toned fields with hues of Lilac, orange, blues and sea greens. By G. Pidgeon. (Images are pre slabbing & post grading by NGC) Complete with original plush round box.

Certainly the finest example of this excessively rare medal to come to auction for many years. Ex Christopher Eimer collection with original ticket (£2200) & original plush round box of issue. Harshly graded in our opinion.Issued as a tribute to the 42nd Regiment (The Black Watch) for their achievements in Egypt by The London Highlands Society. Edge inscriptions around read "O'N CHOUMUN CHAELEACH D'ON FHREICEADAN DUBH NA XLII RT. "
