Description
Ottoman Empire. Container with 137 BR Gaming or Counting Jetons. Made in the style of the Gold Cedid coins of Mahmud II (1808-1839). All counters are housed in a wonderful contemporary red leather circular box with COUNTERS on the top in gold lettering. I assume this would have been used in the gaming establishments around Egypt, Turkey or Istanbul to represent money when gambling.
Box is in wonderful condition, and the jetons are all Uncirculated.
