South Africa, British Colonial. George V Æ Nyasaland Protectorate "Badge of the Certificate of Honour". 1931-1936. GEORGE V KING AND EMPEROR, bust of King to right, oval planchet, ornate border and loop top mount for suspension / NYASALAND PROTECTORATE, female lion left on rock plateau, sun rising above, ornate border with crown atop, loop mount with ring for suspension. 68.00g, 68.00 x 50.00mm, 12h. Extremely Fine. A wonderful piece of colonial history, and very rare. An example in lesser grade sold for £650 + BP in 2022 (Noonan's- 27/07/22- Special Collections Sale). This example is superior and is the 2nd portrait type with a longer bust,Issued as a civil award to local Native Chiefs for interactive services with British soldiers and settlers.
